whereas later in the report he states that there is a shortage of me pacrine. I gather from this that mepacrine is now being obtained from the military authorities, but when the military authorities hand over it will be necessary to obtain these drugs from the United Kingdom direct. There is an immediate need for vaccine lymph.

Hospital accommodation, bedding and china. This shortage will improve as buildings become repaired. However, steps should be taken to forward sheets, blankets and china.

Foodstuffs. As crops improve and shipping becomes easier foods containing vitamin B and fats, of which there is a deficiency, will no longer present a problem.

In this respect the report states that acute malnutrition is rapidly disappearing and although many subjects are undernourished there is daily progress in their recovery.

Epidemic diseases are not prevalent at the present time. However, if the supplies and personnel mentioned above are despatched to the Colony as early as possible there should be no danger from outbreaks of smallpox, enteric, cholera and diphtheria.

The rest of the report expresses opinions and recommendations regarding long term policy

covering fields of university curriculum, nursing training, public health, rural and urban services and economics.
